बाची करकारिया या टाइम्स ऑफ इन्डिया मध्ये स्तंभलेखन करतात. या एका लेखामध्ये त्यांनी बिहारच्या राहुल राज या तरूणाचा उल्लेख ‘अव्हेंजिंग एन्जल’ (सूड घेणारा देवदूत) असा केला आहे. शिवाय त्यांनी असंही भाकीत वर्तवलं आहे की महाराष्ट्रात असाच अव्यवस्थित कारभार राहिला तर लवकरच अशी वेळ येईल की एक कन्नड माणूस चुकून महाराष्ट्राच्या हद्दीत आला म्हणून बी.एस्.एफ्. त्याला जेलमध्ये टाकेल. त्यांच्या हुशारीची झलक त्यांच्या बाळ(ल) ठाकरे यांच्या नावावरून ‘बाल’कनाइजेशन अशी कोटी केली, यातही दिसते. हे पत्र मी इंग्रजीमध्ये टाइम्स् ऑफ इन्डियाच्या संकेतस्थळावर टाकलं खरं पण त्यांनी ते छापलं नाही. (टाइम्सचं ऑफिस महाराष्ट्रात आहे आणि मुंबईत मराठी माणसाचं ऐकतो कोण?!) चालायचंच! आम्हाला सवय आहे त्याची! पण त्या पत्राचा हा मराठी अनुवाद :
प्रिय बाचीताई,
आपला टाइम्स ऑफ इन्डिया मधला लेख वाचला आणि
- डोळे उघडले
- भरून आलं
- महाराष्ट्राची काळजी वाटू लागली
- तुमचीही काळजी वाटू लागली
बाचीताई, मला वाटतं तुम्ही बिहारला शिफ्ट व्हावं. माझ्या अंदाजाने बिहार हा अधिक सुरक्षित प्रांत आहे. महाराष्ट्रासारख्या प्रतिगामी राज्यात आपण काय करता आहात? तिथे तुम्हाला एक नाही – असे अनेक ‘देवदूत’ भेटतील. मला वाटतं बाचीताई याचा तुम्ही जरा गांबीर्याने विचार करा. इथली काळजी करू नका. सूडाने पेटलेले मराठी सैतान अजिबात बिहारमध्ये तुमच्यावर चाल करून येणार नाहीत. आता इथे एखादा कन्नड येईलसुद्धा, पण मराठी माणूस ही तेच करेल अशी बिलकुल चिंता करू नका! अहो, तुम्हाला माहीत्ये का? मराठी नाटकाच्या बसेसही बेळगावात प्रवेश करू शकत नाही. हा माझा स्वतःचा अनुभव आहे. देवाची कृपा, दुसरं काय! नाही तर किती धुडगूस घातला असता मराठी माणसाने तिथे!
बाचीताई, तुम्ही पटनात रहा. तिथे जीवन शांत आणि अहिंसक आहे. कायद्याचं राज्य आहे. तुमच्याही मनाला शांतता लाभेल आणि तुम्ही आणखीन सुंदर सुंदर कोट्या करू शकाल. तुम्ही अगदी मनमोकळेपणाने तुमच्या पारशी-हिंदीमध्ये बोलू शकाल आणि कोणी तुमची खिल्ली उडवणार नाही. तुम्हीच नाही का म्हणालात – ती देवदूतांची भूमी… बुद्ध, लालूप्रसाद, राहुल राज… किती नावं घेऊ आणि किती नको!
तुम्ही किती या मराठी सैतानांना सुधरायचे प्रयत्न केलेत! पण काय उपयोग झाला? मी स्वत: एक मराठी माणूस अंधेरीच्या एका बिल्डिंगमध्ये उत्तर भारतीय लोकांमध्ये अल्पसंख्यक होतो. पण ४ वर्ष मी तिथे त्यांच्यावर माझी दहशत ठेवली!
बाचीताई, किती हुशार आहात तुम्ही! कसं सुचतं हो तुम्हाला? बाल ठाकरे वरून बाल-कनाइजेशनची कोटी तर… अहाहा…. बुद्धिचातुर्याचा कळसच जणू! नुसतं बुद्धिचातुर्य नव्हे बाचीताई, मी तर म्हणतो यात तुमचा सुजाणपणाच लपला आहे. मला खात्री आहे बाचीताई की बॉस्नियाच्या रक्तपातामध्येसुद्धा बाळ ठाकरेचाच हात असणार. खरंच, किती सुजाण, किती चतुर आहात तुम्ही! खरं तुमच्यासारख्या बुद्धिमान स्त्रीला महाराष्ट्रासारख्या सनातन, प्रतिगामी प्रांतात राहवं लागतय हे दुर्दैव आहे. मुळात महाराष्ट्र हेच आपलं दुर्दैव आहे! हे राज्य भारतीय घटनेने बहाल केलं असलं म्हणून काय झालं? आणि काय फरक पडतो इथे यूपी बिहारमधले लोक अनाधिकृत वसत्यांमध्ये राहतात म्हणून, रिक्षा-टॅक्सीची पर्मिटं वशिलेबाजी आणि अनाधिकृत पद्धतीनं मिळवतात, वीजेचा तुटवडा असताना थोडीशी वीज चोरून जगतात…. बिचारे! ते तरी काय करणार… शेवटी घटनेने त्यांनासुद्धा हे करायचा अधिकार दिला आहे!
आणि मग राज ठाकरेसारखा उद्दाम नेता रेल्वे बोर्डाचा सवाल उठवतो! बिशाद कशी होते त्याची. गेल्या ५-६ टर्म्सपासून रेल्वे मंत्री हे बिहारमधूनच येतात हे माहित नसावं का त्याला? आज रेल्वे केवळ बिहारमुळे भारतात अस्तित्वात आहे. का त्यांनी झोन ‘ए’ सोडून इतर विभागाच्या आणि प्रांतांच्या वर्तमानपत्रांमध्ये जाहिराती द्यायच्या? हे मराठी लोक स्वत:ला समजतात तरी कोण? या अशिक्षित जमातीला वाचता तरी येतं का? नोकरमाणसांची जमात हो ती! बुद्धाच्या भूमीतल्या आपल्या रेल्वे मंत्र्यांनी या अशिक्षित लोकांच्या भाषेतल्या वर्तमानपत्रांध्ये का म्हणून जाहिराती द्याव्या? महाराष्ट्राने काय दिलंय शेवटी भारताला? हां, आता हे सगळे मराठी लोक म्हणतील टिळक वगैरे, त्यांनी केसरी काढला म्हणे! आणि ते अत्रे…. त्यांचंच तर हे सैतानी डोकं… त्यांनी तर चक्क धोशाच धरला की मराठीभाषिकांना त्यांचं राज्य मिळायला हवं म्हणून… भांडून घेतला हो महाराष्ट्र! भांडकुदळ जमातच अगदी तेव्हापासून. बाचीताई, तुम्ही त्यावेळी असता तर ठणकावून सांगीतलं असतं की या जमातीला त्यांचं राज्य मिळू देऊ नका… हे लोक पुढे देशाचे तुकडे करतील… या लेखात जसं तुम्ही भाकीत केलंय तसं तेव्हां केलं असतं तर… आज हे दिवस पहायला मिळाले नसते.
तुम्ही राहुल राजला देवदूत म्हणालात, बाचीताई! खरोखर, तुम्ही पावन आहात… आणि हे मुंबईचे पोलीस! मारलं की हो त्याला! आता त्यांना वाटलं की मुंबईत मराठी माणसाचं प्रमाण कमी झालं असल्यामुळे रस्त्यावरचे लोक आणि इतर प्रवाशांमध्ये अमराठी लोकही असतील. पण इथेच ते आपला मूर्खपणा सिद्ध करतात नाही का बाचीताई? राहुलराज सारख्या देवदूताच्या उरी अमराठी लोकांबद्दलच कणव नव्हती का? बिहारहून आलेल्या माशीलाही त्याने इजा फोचवली नसती! पण हे या पोलीसांना कळायला नको? भोगा म्हणावं आता आपल्या कर्माची फळं! आणि काय केलं असतं हो असं या राहुल राजने? राज ठाकरेलाच मारलं असतं ना? आणि राज ठाकरेची गरज कोणाला आहे हो इथे?!!
खरंच, बाचीताई, तुम्ही आम्हा मराठी लोकांना किती चांगलं ओळखता! ५० वर्ष आम्ही सगळ्या इतर राज्यातून लोकांना इथे येऊ दिलं कारण आम्हाला पन्नास वर्षांनी आमचा प्रांतवादच सिद्ध करायचा होता.
बाचीताई, तुमच्या नावावर ‘बच्ची’ अशी कोटी करता येईल ना? अहो, मान्य आहे, तुमच्या बाल्कनाइजेशनच्या कोटी एवढी काही ही महान आणि जबाबदार कोटी नाही, पण मी एक साधा मराठी माणूस आहे हो. तुम्ही घ्यालच समजून!
बाचीताई, बिहारला शिफ्ट झाल्यावर नक्की कळ्वा. मी माझ्याकाही बेरोजगार मित्रांबरोबर बिहारमध्ये नोकरी शोधत येईन. तेव्हां भेटू. मग तुम्ही मला तुमच्यासारख्या भारी कोट्या करायला शिकवा. तुम्ही अशा सैतानांच्या भूमीत अडकलाय याचं फार दु:ख होतं बाचीताई… जेव्हा खरंतर तुम्हाला बिहारच्या शांतताप्रिय वातावरणात राहायला आवडेल… जिथे राहुलराजसारखे तरूण तुम्हाला झेड-सिक्युरिटी देतील! मला कल्पना आहे बाचीताई, आज महाराष्ट्र तुमच्याच लेखणीमुळे उभा राहायला आहे. तुम्हीच आम्हाला दाखवलं – देवदूत कसे दिसतात! तुमचे उपकार आहेत आमच्यावर… आम्ही ते नाही विसरणार! पण मला खरंच असं वाटतं की तुम्ही इतकं आमच्यासाठी करावं ही आमची लायकी नाही. तुम्ही जा, बाचीताई, आम्ही नाही आडवणार तुम्हाला….

Forunately I do not read the daily entertainment document called The “Times of India”. I stopped reading it years back when I realised that it is keen on riding on the waves and be more entertaining than educating or leading the journalism industry in the qualitative and not quantitative way. But, I believe that the newspaper is not at fault but the readers are. They are the ones who have the sickenning hunger of readig or knowing about page3 cultures, a celebrity’s lifestyles or the in and out details of some stupid relationship between two filmstars. Aren’t those the self declared victims of the engaging entertainment traps around?
Why I am talking about all this is because we should stop expecting sensible journalism from those related to such publications. I honestly think that it’s a waste of energy, time and creative talent to even try and answer Bachi KAkariya through Times of India. However perfect or honest your thoughts are about her writeup, even the so called Marathi manoos will hardly bother about it after reading it in the so called Marathi Newspaper called Maharashtra Times. Sorry Kaushal, but there is enough to read and think and mull over for them in the supplements like Mumbai Times.
But I still appreciate your courage and would love to say that amongst us there are a few, if not all who do not belong to those in this poem: “Mi morcha nela nahi… Mi sampahi kela nahi… Mi nishedh sudhha sadha kadhi nondavilela nahi!”

Quite interesting and smirk-provoking!
All those Parsi and Christian friends who have no business talking in support of either Raj or Rahul Raj, are talking and writing everyday. I hear them all the time in my office and all around me. But they were on neither side of his revolver! Funny how freedom of speech lets everybody suddenly feel concerned about unrelatable things. Its like me feeling really concerned about how John McCain is doing this morning!

Reasons, the boy who came to kurla with weapon couldnt buy a cell phone?? How many such rahul raaj are ‘roaming’ in nation? Lalu can run road roller on Varun Gandhi if he had home minister’s chair, so definite he would run a double Decker bus on rahul raj, had it been his control on Maharashtr’s home Minster! karkaria herself is migrant mentality and fails to see the point of local welfare. She can learn from barack obama who gave call for only American workers for firms seeking govnt funds ? Who has daring to argue barak obama then for coming against economy of migrants? Who is willing to write articles opposing this american-first attitude of American president? Karkaria, you can find if legaly indian constitution prevents regional political/social movement. since we have minority centered politics, uttar bharatiya centered politics, a tamil elam politics, akali dal politics, kashmiriyat politics, bengali communist culture politics, congress’s dynastic legecy politics, BJP’s baniya/industry centered politics, shivsena’s marathi cause centered politics, which go un opposed whats the problem of one addition of raj thakre’s MNS, do you oppose state renessiance concept? it is not innovative call as you also know and this politics is used by indians when they gave call for india run by indians!! since we are part of a brotherhood does not mean the root cause of state’s miserable resource management is on un controlled influx from other regionas of india?? why marathi people need to derive any asmita benefit from it when its all’s hell if the naala is choked up and there is 1000 meters rain? do you think that in that case only marathi people will die in it? isnt the migrant culture pose any worry to you considering you a disconnected anti marathi at least by its civic side? raj adds the culture tone which is not understood by you naturally.
